We’re now several days removed from the Apple Watch’s second launch, a decidedly splashier introduction (as Watch took a backseat to the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus in September) compared to its original arrival. At the Spring Forward event, Apple filled in all the blanks, talking about more of Watch’s features, as well as confirming a definite release date for the device – April 24, 2015. Even at its more expensive price point of $349, the Apple Watch is a smartwatch many consider potentially “disruptive,” which is business lingo for an industry-changing device.
Alright, let’s admit it – the Apple Watch won’t come cheap. However, if you’re looking for a smartwatch that won’t break the bank, there are several places to shop for these devices, including the Amazon website. And with the Apple Watch again official and due for a release date not too far away from now, Amazon has launched more smartwatch deals that could help you save some serious money on these companion devices. Before we get to those deals, we might as well tell you just this one time that there aren’t any Apple Watch deals on there – at least not yet.
Although, you can roll the dice on one of the many generic smartwatches available on Amazon, such as the U Watch Smart Watch from GeekEra ($34.20, reg. price $59.99) or the Ciyoyo Universal Bluetooth Smartwatch for Android and iOS ($36.10, reg. price $59.99), you probably won’t want these if you’re looking for a good mix of budget pricing and quality. Instead, you may want to check out the Veezy Gear Bluetooth Smartwatch, which costs $69.99, or close to one-fourths of the original price of $249.99.
The Soyan M26 Bluetooth Smart Wrist Watch, like the above products, is also advertised as being compatible with Android and iOS phones, and it’s only going to cost you $42.99, down from the original $90. As both this product and the Veezy product above have gotten solid, if not spectacular reviews, these should make great “starter” smartwatches for those looking to give such devices a try.
The original Pebble smartwatch will soon be superseded by the all-new Pebble Time, but now Amazon is selling the original device for $99.99, which is a decent $50 price cut off the full retail price of $149.99. And continuing on with another “reputable” smartwatch from previous model years, the Sony Smartwatch SW2 is an Android-only smartwatch that costs just $118 (reg. price $199.95). The newer Sony Smartwatch SW3 a far more recent and advanced Sony smartwatch that Amazon is also selling at a generous discount. Originally priced at $299.99, the retailer now offers it for just $228.75, or close to 25 percent off the original pricing.
All these options are fine and dandy, but you may be wondering where the Apple Watch’s biggest competitors are. Does Amazon sell them, and if it does, are they selling at full price? Fortunately, our final item is quite popular, and it’s not selling at full price. That said, the Moto 360 sells for $229.99, or just $20 less than the original price tag of $249.99, but on the other hand, it’s not every day that you’ll see Motorola’s popular round-faced smartwatch selling at a discounted price, at least for the time being.
