Best Columbus Day Deals for Xbox One and PS4

Back on Wednesday, Microsoft announced the new Surface Book, a flagship Lumia handset, and a new wearable, the Band 2. But the company didn’t keep too quiet about the Xbox One, as Microsoft announced it is working on an Xbox One update for Windows 10 that promises a “complete redesign built on the cornerstone of Windows 10,”as well as the “fastest and most social Xbox experience ever.” This update can be downloaded for free, though you’ll have to wait until next month before it rolls out. The company also shared more information on the Xbox One Backward Compatibility Update, which will be out next month for 100 games, with many more to follow.

All that bodes very well for existing Xbox One owners, but what if you don’t own one yet? That may be good reason for you to pony up some cash for Microsoft’s present-generation gaming console, but a bigger reason may be the plethora of Xbox One deals currently ongoing in the run-up to Columbus Day. And if you’re more of a PlayStation gamer, we’ve got some PS deals too, so hang on as we run through some of the best Columbus Day deals for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

If you’re willing to give eBay a shot, then the Xbox One Halo: Master Chief Collection Bundle is now selling for $310 with free shipping. That is currently the lowest price available for this particular (and popular) bundle, and it comes with the usual stuff – a 500 GB hard drive and wireless controller – plus a chat headset and a copy of Halo: Master Chief Collection.

Over at Target, the Xbox One 500 GB Gears of War Console Bundle is selling for $298, instead of the usual $349.99. You’ll need to claim a Cartwheel coupon for this, but as it’s selling for more than $50 off, this is a very good deal in itself. As an added bonus, you can get a free copy of NBA 2K16: Early Tip-Off Edition, which is great if you’re a basketball fan excited for the new NBA season, as well as 2K Sports’ latest installment in the popular NBA 2K series. That same Gears of War Console Bundle is available at Best Buy, and can be purchased bundled in with a 40-inch off-brand HDTV, though the catch here is that this deal, which has the items selling for $470, is only for students.

Wondering where the PS4 deals are? GameStop’s got one, and the Destiny: The Taken King Limited Edition Console Bundle comes with FIFA 16 as an additional game. That’s going to set you back by $400, which is the lowest price on the bundle by a good $45. You get a Glacier White-flavored PS4, a DualShock controller of the same color, several cables, a mono headset, and the aforementioned Destiny: The Taken King, plus FIFA 16. But if those games don’t suit your tastes, the PS4 500 GB Console with The Last of Us is available as an eBay deal with free shipping – that’s going to cost you $349.99, or $50 less than the next-cheapest deal in the market.
