The iPad Air and the iPad mini with Retina Display were both released in November of 2013 with expectations that they would help continue Apple’s dominance of the tablet market amid rising competition from devices such as the Google Nexus 7 and Nexus 10, the Amazon Kindle Fire HD/HDX and other Android-powered slates, to say little of the Windows 8 tablet market.
Recent data from NPD suggests that the Apple iPad will continue ruling the tablet market, and driving the success of the broader “post-PC” market, with mobile computing device sales, 75 percent of which are tablets, expected to reach 450 million units over the coming four years. And if you were one of many who had yourself an “iPad Christmas” a few months back, it’s not too late to get yourself a cover for your device for less. Here are Best Buy’s current specials on iPad covers for both the full-size iPad and the mini.
The Rocketfish MY WAY “leather-like” case for the iPad 2, iPad 3 and iPad 4 is one of the cheapest cases you can find on Best Buy, and it’s available for only $5.99. That’s a mere fraction of the regular price of $29.99, though the case, as suggested by the description, will not work on the present-generation iPad Air. Likewise, the Speck iGuy Case also works for all full-size iPads prior to the iPad Air, but costs considerably more. Sale pricing is at $25.98, or $14.01 less than the regular price of $39.99.
As the Retina iPad mini wasn’t that much different from the original iPad mini in terms of design, owners of both iterations won’t have to worry about making sure their case works on a certain generation. The eForCity 360-degree Swivel Leather Case for iPad mini and “iPad mini 2 with Retina Display” is presently listed at $8.09, or exactly half the regular price of $16.18.
The BassAcc Natural/Solid Gummy Cover for iPad mini is another half-price deal, with the case priced at $12.39, or half the regular price tag of $24.78. The same company’s Soft Case, Stylus and LCD Protector Bundle is also available at 50 percent of full retail – $8.79, instead of $17.58. The eForCity Leather Case with Stand for iPad mini, on the other hand, is listed at only $8.29, down 50 percent from the regular price of $16.58.
As a matter of fact, Best Buy has a wide variety of 50 percent off deals on iPad cases at the present, and these include cases for the present-generation iPad Air, which stood out from its predecessors for being much thinner and lighter than the iPad 2, iPad 3 and iPad 4.
The eForCity Stand Leather Case for iPad Air, for example, is priced at $10.19 instead of the usual $20.38. eForCity has a second product for the device it alternately refers to as the “iPad 5”, and it’s a 360-degree Swivel Stand Leather Case. Pricing is normally at $25.58, but Best Buy has it selling at half-price, or $12.79.
