By now, you’re probably aware that Microsoft has just unveiled the new Surface Book. The Surface Book is the latest device in Microsoft’s Surface line, and it marks a key point in the line’s evolution, as it can truly be said that it’s more than just a “crossover device.” Like crossover utility vehicles combine the elements of midsize to compact cars and smaller SUVs, previous Surfaces largely combined laptop and tablet elements, but were still tablets at heart. The Surface Book, however, can be both, and it may come closer than ever before to fulfilling Microsoft’s vision of Surface as a laptop replacement – it can be used as a tablet or as a laptop more so than any Surface device before it.
We’re not going to tell you much more about the Surface Book, because it’s going to cost you an arm and a leg if you’re a bargain shopper; further, new items don’t get put on sale right away. Anyone who’s on a tighter budget can check out these laptop deals, which come to us with Columbus Day in the horizon. So if you’re ready like we are, let’s get to the deals.
HP itself has a comprehensive series of Columbus Day specials, and while not all models are covered, entering the coupon code “15HPDEALNEWS” will get you $15 off, with all orders shipping for free. Select laptops are selling for $300, and those are just some of the discounts the company is offering. You may have to make it quick, though, as these company-sponsored blowout sales typically last for only a short period of time.
Dell has its own configuration with an Intel Skylake processor – that’s a Core i7 clocked at 2.6 GHz and paired with 8 GB RAM. You also get a 15.6-inch Full HD (1080p) monitor, a 1TB hard drive with 8 GB SSD, an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M graphics card, and a whole lot more. Dell Small Business is selling it for $849 (down from $949) for anyone who enters the coupon code “SAVE$100PC,” and shipping, once again is free. This coupon, in case you’re wondering, expires on Thursday, October 15.
Lenovo is yet another major laptop maker selling many of its products at lower prices. To be specific, it’s offering laptops (and desktops, tablets, and peripherals too) for as much as 52 percent off with free shipping. Some of these discounts may require coupons, but there don’t appear to be too many twists to this deal, which expires on October 14. The Lenovo Y50-70, for instance, comes with an Intel Core i7 processor under the hood, and is only going to cost you $1,199 instead of the usual $1,579.99.
We’ve got time for just one more item, but we’re going to make this “one more thing” very quick, and very cheap. Budget laptop shoppers can go to Amazon and buy the Asus T100 10-inch, 1080p touch laptop for only $276 with free shipping, and that’s the lowest price on this laptop configuration by about $73. Specs include a 10.1-inch Full HD display, a quad-core Intel Atom processor, 2 GB RAM, a 5-megapixel rear camera, and Windows 8.1 32-bit. This deal ends on October 15, which gives you little less than a week to take advantage of this deal.
