Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX HD Limited Edition Appears Online

By Brian Fulcher | 11/24/2012

Motorola’s Droid RAZR MAXX HD is one of the most popular smartphones available in the United States at the moment, and for good reason: it packs the largest battery in its class, and is compatible with high-speed 4G LTE wireless networks.

Its Kevlar-laden design might feel too industrial to some, but this has not dampened its popularity in a big way. However, people working for Verizon could now have an intriguing new color option available to them. Droid-Life has posted some images of a limited edition Droid RAZR MAXX HD, which features substantially more red than the original model.

Instead of the gray boxes on the device’s back plate, the Verizon limited edition model replaces these with eye-catching red. The power button also comes with a new red paint job as well.

Supposedly, these devices are individually numbered, and the back plate is emblazoned with the words “limited edition.” Outside of the cosmetic changes, it isn’t known if the new model would also enjoy some substantial hardware changes.

Supposedly, Verizon has made red limited edition versions of the Droid RAZR MAXX HD, HTC Windows Phone 8X and HTC Droid DNA for sale only to its employees. Even with this restriction, there’s a pretty good chance that these devices would pop up on eBay at some point, so it’s best to keep an eye out.

For the Droid RAZR MAXX HD, this limited edition could be a nice little commemorative model, considering that the device is one of the highest-selling devices on Amazon Wireless. Earlier this week the Eastern Morning Herald reported that the online retailer has listed the Droid RAZR MAXX and Droid RAZR MAXX HD as the top-selling smartphones, edging out even the Samsung Galaxy S3.
