New HTC One M9 Render Emerges – Scoping HTC’s Next Flagship in Concept Form

While everyone seems to be talking about the Samsung Galaxy S6 as far as upcoming Android flagships go, the HTC One M9 is also looking like a very promising device. It has also leaked out several times in the past, though most of the newer leaks we’ve seen have since been debunked. But that didn’t stop Phone Designer from coming up with an unofficial take on the One M9, based on the leaks and rumors we’ve seen and heard so far.

We might as well fill you in on the HTC One M9 leak situation as it stands, in case you aren’t familiar with what had recently happened. If you remember the HTC One M8, that phone was a poorly-kept secret, but that didn’t stop it from doing quite well in the market, if still far off from the Samsung Galaxy S5. As for the One M9, there were several photos of the device that emerged in January, though the notorious @evleaks went on the record and said these leaks were all bogus. He then went ahead and leaked a render purporting to be the actual HTC One M9 ahead of its launch date. With the One M9 essentially confirmed to arrive at an HTC press event in Barcelona on March 1, we’re now back to the present, and ready to tell you about what Phone Designer had recently cooked up.

Phone Designer’s render is based exclusively on leaks and rumors, which means there isn’t any unrealistic flight of fancy to see here – everything’s based on actual rumors, leaks, and behind-the-scenes intel, and not the designer’s fertile imagination. Starting with the design, we see an HTC One M9 with a 5.2-inch display, but thinner bezels that make the phone look smaller than it really is. The phone’s design looks flashy and sporty as always, and while this is just a concept render, we’re confident HTC won’t disappoint in terms of its new flagship’s design language.

Other basic specifications include a 20.7-megapixel rear camera, while the 4 Ultrapixel camera that was found on the back of the HTC One M7 and M8 is now located in front. We may be looking at a phone with an eight-core Snapdragon 810 processor paired with 3 GB RAM, 32 GB internal storage with microSD, and Android 5.0.2 Lollipop. Software features, which we don’t quite know as of the moment, will likely be highlighted on HTC’s new Sense 7.0 user experience. The HTC One M9 may also come with a 2,880 or 3,000 mAh battery, as well as the same “classic” flavors as the One M8, meaning silver, gold, and gray.

Talking about the HTC One M9’s features, we should see the return of the company’s hallmark BoomSound front speakers. Since design is arguably as important as features are when consumers choose flagship phones, the size of the speakers, not to mention how those speakers forced the HTC One M8 to become taller, was a deal breaker for many buyers. The BoomSound speakers, however, are now on the edges in this concept design, and to reiterate an earlier point, the bezels are barely existent. Sadly, this concept doesn’t give us much insight into other selling features, but we shouldn’t wait much longer before HTC gives us the lowdown on that at its MWC 2015 press event on March 1.
