Newegg Daily Deals: Samsung Galaxy Tab S, Refurbished Desktops Discounted

There may not be a better authority than DisplayMate’s Raymond Soneira when it comes to judging a device’s display. His most recent tests covered Apple’s new iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3, and while both new tablets did well, they weren’t good enough to top the Samsung Galaxy Tab S. According to Soneira, the Galaxy Tab S still has the most accurate representation of colors among mainstream tablet releases, and if you remember that this Samsung tablet’s main selling point is its use of AMOLED display tech, it’s no surprise at all that this leading display authority considers the Galaxy Tab S the best out there.

Of course, the Galaxy Tab S’ display tech didn’t exactly result in an iPad-beater, but the slate still remains one of the top high-end tablet computers out there. It’s also one you can buy at a lower price, thanks to Newegg, which has included the smaller Galaxy Tab S 8.4 in its Daily Deals for today. Let’s get to those deals, and start out with the aforementioned device and its specs and pricing.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4, apart from its AMOLED tech, boasts of specs such as 2560 x 1600 display resolution, an eight-core Samsung Exynos Octa processor, 3 GB RAM, and 16 GB internal memory. Fundamentally speaking, this is a device that has what it takes to challenge Apple’s venerable iPad, and if you buy it from Newegg, you can get it from a lower price than the present-generation iPad Air 2. Pricing used to be $399, but Newegg has reduced its price by $30/8 percent to a more modest $369.

While deals on high-end tablets really aren’t that common on Newegg’s Daily Deals, chances are better that you could get a better deal on a desktop PC. One example is the Acer AXC-605-UR28, which is configured with an Intel Core i7 processor, 8 GB RAM, a 2 TB hard drive, and Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. Originally $779.99, Newegg now sells this PC for $699.99, or 10 percent off regular pricing.

If a sophisticated business PC isn’t for your tastes, you can check out the HP 8000 Elite all-in-one desktop as a refurbished option. Specs include a 3 GHz dual-core processor, 3 GB RAM, 160 GB hard drive space, Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, and a 19-inch monitor. This desktop config now sells for $214.99, or $85/28 percent off the original price of $299.99.

Newegg’s Daily Deals also include price cuts on peripherals and components, including the refurbished PNY GeForce GTX 670 video card, which is now available for $179.99 (reg. price $219.99, $40/18 percent off),and the Samsung UD590 Series 28-inch monitor, which comes with 4K HD (3840 x 2160) resolution and a price tag of $599.99, or $200 less than original pricing of $799.99. Going back to equipment, it looks like Newegg’s Daily Deals seem to include more hardware items than usual, including the Lenovo Flex 2 14, which is a two-in-one notebook powered by an Intel Core i5 processor and 8 GB RAM, with a 128 GB SSD underneath. You can buy this device for $699, or $120/15 percent less than the previous selling price of $819 – that’s not a bad price at all to pay on a so-called “crossover” device.
