Pre-Black Friday Newegg Week-Long Price Busters Pop Up

Pre-Black Friday Newegg Week-Long Price Busters Pop UpWe’ve got exactly one week remaining before Black Friday, and little by little, we’re seeing the major retailers unwrap those presents early, meaning leaking their Black Friday 2014 ads and deals ahead of Thanksgiving week. Newegg is one of those retailers that has not yet announced any official Black Friday deals, but since the company does offer great deals on tech products all year round, it is somewhat teasing Black Friday by offering some specials about a few days or so before Thanksgiving week. These include several offers on cell phones and accessories, but are they really worth it? Let’s find out.

First of all, we’re going to cut to the chase and advise you not to go for the flagship phones, even if Newegg does have discount pricing on the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and iPhone 6. Yes, it’s true, both phones are available unlocked and off-contract on the Newegg website, but the catch is this – you’re going to be paying more than Apple’s and Samsung’s MSRPs on both devices.

To be precise, the iPhone 6 is available in black or white, and selling at almost 20 percent off, but Newegg’s list price for the current Apple flagship is $999.99. At $809.99 on discount, you’ll still be paying about $150 more than the device’s MSRP. As for the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, carriers’ off-contract versions are typically priced between $700 to $800, and Newegg’s unlocked Note 4 comes in black and white, and sells for $874.99. That’s about 13 percent off full pricing of $999.99, but arguably not worth it, unless you need a purely unlocked GSM version of either handset.

Instead, you may be better served buying a device like the ZTE Nubia 5S Mini, which comes with a quad-core processor clocked at 1.2 GHz, a 4.7-inch HD display, 16 GB internal memory with microSD expansion up to 32 GB, and a 2,000 mAh battery. The phone also includes a decent-enough 13-megapixel rear camera and a stunning 5-megapixel front shooter for selfies. Judging by its specs, the Nubia 5S Mini is definitely not a world-beating flagship, but it’s a decent midrange phone you can now buy on the Newegg website for $279.99, instead of the regular unlocked price of $419.99.

If you want to go entry-level and off-brand, the Unnecto Rush U-830-2NA sells for just $129.99 (reg. price $309.99), and comes with a 5-inch HD display, a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor, an 8-megapixel rear camera, and other midrange-ish fundamentals for an entry-level price.

Aside from the above mentioned cell phone deals, Newegg also offers discounts on select cell phone peripherals and accessories, including the Motorola Behind-the-Neck Bluetooth Stereo Headset, which costs only $34.99 (reg. price $99.99), and can be yours for an extra $5 off if you enter promo code CEWK3330. The GoGroove Flex Smart X3 Mini Bluetooth FM Transmitter now sells for $57.99 (reg. price $99.99), and an extra $8 off with promo code CEWK3325. And if you want a power bank for your smartphone or tablet, your options include the RAVPower RP-PB04 10,000 mAh Power Bank, which supports iOS and Android devices alike, and costs $25.99 instead of the usual $99.99. You can also save an additional $2 by entering the limited-time promo code CEWK3298 upon checkout.
