Select MacBook Air, MacBook Pro Models Now Discounted at Best Buy

Though, Apple didn’t launch a new MacBook Air with Retina Display at its October 16 launch event as many had expected, the good news is that buyers looking to get their hands on a current MacBook Air or MacBook Pro could save some serious cash by heading over to the Best Buy website right now. That’s because the entry-level MacBook Air from the current 2014 model year and the cheapest MacBook Pro are both available at discounted prices, all part of Best Buy’s four-day holiday kickoff sale.

Best Buy’s ongoing MacBook specials allow buyers to purchase the 13-inch MacBook Air’s base trim for only $849, instead of the original price tag of $999. Considering that most MacBook deals have the thin-and-light discounted by about $50 to $100 regardless of configuration, $150 off is actually a pretty good deal, even if it’s only 15 percent off full pricing. For those who need a backgrounder on this machine, the entry-level 13-inch MacBook Air comes with a 1.4 GHz Intel Core i5 processor mated to 4 GB RAM, and 128 GB internal storage.

The entry-level MacBook Pro, on the other hand, is not a Retina MacBook Pro, unfortunately. It’s a legacy 13-incher from the 2012 model year, which means you’ll be purchasing a notebook that’s been on sale for more than two years as of this writing. Still, we can say that its specs are quite decent, if not overwhelmingly good – these include a 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5 processor, 4 GB RAM, and a 500 GB hard drive. Pricing used to be $1,099, but with the $150 off discount, you can get it at the reduced price of $949.

Buyers have up until Monday, October 27 to take advantage of the deal, so that’s about another day or so for you to save $150 off the price of an entry-level MacBook Air from 2014 or non-Retina MacBook Pro from 2012. That’s not much time remaining, but since Black Friday is coming in about a month or so, we should be seeing way more MacBook Air and MacBook Pro deals, hopefully on higher-end configurations as well. And those aren’t the only consumer electronics products Best Buy is offering at significantly discounted prices.

What else is there to buy for much less? Best Buy is also offering several other products as part of this holiday kickoff sale. These include a 55-inch Panasonic HDTV with 120 Hz refresh rate and Full HD video, which is available for $599.99 instead of the original price of $999.99, and the LG G3. The G3, which originally went on sale in July for the contract price of $199.99, now costs just $79.99, though the obvious catch with that deal is that you’ll have to sign a two-year carrier contract to take advantage of the lower price.

Additionally, Best Buy has deals on smaller television sets, such as a 32-inch Panasonic HDTV ($189, reg. price $249.99), a 46-inch RCA HDTV ($319.99, reg. price $499.99), and an HP Envy x360 two-in-one touchscreen laptop with 15.6-inch display, which is available for $829.99, or $70 off regular pricing of $899.99.
