Selected iPhone 5s, MacBook Air Models Discounted at Best Buy This Week

This week’s been quite a productive one for those keeping a close eye on the iPhone 6 and eagerly awaiting the phone’s eventual debut and release. Among the host of leaks and rumors we’ve heard this week, we saw a Taiwanese pop star leak out the 5.5-inch iPhone 6, in a similar way to how this singer (Jimmy Lin) also leaked the 4.7-inch iPhone 6, and other Apple devices ahead of their actual launch. It was also reported that sapphire displays may not make it to the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 after all, due to poor yields on these protective displays; instead, it may only be the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 with such a feature.

Despite all that iPhone 6 talk, there are still others who would be perfectly happy with an iPhone 5s, and if you’re one of those people, you may want to visit Best Buy, as the company has a “deal with a twist” where you can get the 16 GB iPhone 5s for just a dollar. Let’s look at that deal, as well as a few others being offered by the retailer.

If you look at Best Buy’s weekly deals for June 15 to 21, 2014, you’ll see the base iPhone 5s available for just a dollar, but the catch therein is that you’ll have to trade in select iPhone models with two-year activation. The operative word here is “select”, though Apple does explain which devices would qualify you for that huge discount – you’ll need to trade in a working iPhone 5 in order to take advantage of the dollar deal. Despite that one big catch, this isn’t a bad deal at all, and it’s one of the better iPhone 5s specials we’ve seen so far. But that’s not all Best Buy has to offer for this current week.

While Apple didn’t introduce Retina Display to the thin-and-light MacBook Air notebook in this year’s 2014 model year refresh, it did offer reduced pricing, and speaking of things like that, Best Buy may have something up your alley if you’re shopping for a cheaper MacBook Air. 13.3-inch configurations are selling for $100 off, which means you can get a config with an Intel Core i5 processor, 4 GB RAM, and 128 GB internal storage for $899.99 instead of $999.99.

In fact, all 2014 model year MacBook Airs are available for $100 off, as the 11.6-incher can be purchased for as low as $799.99 – that’s also going to get you a MacBook Air powered by an Intel Core i5 chipset with 4 GB RAM and 128 GB flash storage.

Yes, this does look like a very Apple-centric collection of deals on Best Buy, and it’s quite fitting that our “one more thing” for this recap is specifically designed for the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5s. The LifeProof nuud Case for iPhone 5 and iPhone 5s is selling for just $89.99 each, and while that appears to be full-fat pricing, you can certainly use that money you saved on the iPhone 5s (assuming you traded in your old iPhone 5) to get yourself one of the better-quality cases designed for Apple’s 4-inch iPhones.
