Ultrabook Deals on Newegg – Sony and Acer Laptops Selling at Discounted Prices

Ultrabook Deals on Newegg - Sony and Acer Laptops Selling at Discounted PricesThey’re not as popular in the holiday electronics market as phones, tablets or HDTVs, but laptop deals are quite common on retailer websites, with a lot of these devices selling at substantial discounts. For this report, we shall take a look at the more popular Ultrabooks available on Newegg’s website; also known as “thin-and-lights”, Ultrabooks are just as the alternate name suggests, namely lighter, slimmer notebook computers as compared to the average laptop.

Most of the first-page deals on Newegg’s Ultrabook page are Sony VAIO machines. And in many cases, the site will ask you to click in order to “see price in cart”, or to “request price” via email or text message. According to Newegg, this is done because “some manufacturers suggest that products be advertised at their suggested retail price”, and in such situations, sale prices will only be displayed in a buyer’s cart after they are emailed or texted to the buyer. As such, we shall focus on those Ultrabooks where the price is readily available on the Newegg Ultrabook page.

With that out of the way, the 13-inch Sony VAIO Pro 13 with Intel Core i7 “Haswell” processor, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB solid state drive storage and 13.3-inch Full HD display is selling at $1,6499.99, or $150 off the usual selling price of $1,799.99. Like all other laptops covered here, this machine comes with an Iron Egg Guarantee Return Policy, as well as free shipping (except when specified).

Black and silver flavors of the 11.6-inch Sony VAIO Pro are also listed here, at a price of $1,549.99, or 9 percent savings off the full retail price of $1,699.99. This Ultrabook includes an 11.6-inch touchscreen, an Intel Core i7 processor clocked at 1.8 GHz, and a 256 GB SSD as its key specifications.

Moving further down the pricing scale, Sony’s VAIO Duo 13 is a crossover device, as we sometimes call it – that’s because it can serve as either an Ultrabook or a tablet, much like a crossover vehicle is somewhere between a car and a smaller SUV. The device costs $1,479.99, or $120/6 percent off its regular price of $1,579.99, and includes an Intel Core i5 Haswell processor clocked at 1.6 GHz (with Intel Turbo Boost Technology allowing for speeds up to 2.6 GHz), a 13.3-inch screen, 8 GB RAM and 128 GB SSD storage.

The Sony VAIO Pro 13 with Intel Core i7 Haswell processor and 128 GB SSD, on the other hand, costs $1,349.99, or 10 percent off the usual price of $1,499.99.

It isn’t just Sony VAIO Ultrabooks highlighted on the Newegg site, but also Ultrabooks from Acer, such as the Aspire S7-391-6478. It comes with a 1.7 GHz Intel Core i5 processor and a 13.3-inch display as basic specs, and sells for $1,324.99, or $75 off. Unlike the other Ultrabooks listed here, the Aspire S7-391-6478 has a shipping charge of $7.99.

Lastly, the Acer S7 with Intel Core i5 processor, 8 GB RAM, 128 GB SSD and 13.3-inch Full HD display costs $1,308.99, representing a $141 discount off (10 percent off) its normal price tag of $1,449.99.
