Walmart Black Friday 2014 Ad Debuts with Hot Deals on HDTVs and iPad Mini

on

With Target and Best Buy having published their ads earlier in the week, Walmart followed suit on Tuesday, revealing an extensive, 41-page Black Friday 2014 advertisement that comes chock full of consumer electronics deals. Like Best Buy and Target, Walmart is offering deals on a diverse range of products, and here’s what you can expect, along with some callbacks to the (recent) days when tech blogs were offering their prognostications on retailers’ Black Friday specials.

First of all, Walmart’s Black Friday deals will actually begin on Thanksgiving Day, and that’s when the retailer will be offering savings not just once, but twice – the first time at 6 p.m., then two hours later, at 8 p.m. local time. You’ll need to be queued up in line between 6-7 p.m., then between 8-9 p.m., to take advantage of Walmart’s One Hour Guarantee, and once you’re there, you’ll have to get your item, or, if the product is out of stock, your ticket. That means you’re guaranteed to get the item of your choice regardless whether it runs out of stock or not, but again, the important thing is being in line during the duration of the One Hour Guarantee deal.

As expected, HDTVs are a major focus of these One Hour Guarantee deals, as Walmart is offering two off-brands at hard-to-resist prices – first is an unspecified 50-inch LED HDTV that’s listed at $398 but selling on Thanksgiving at $218, and the second is a 60-inch Vizio LED HDTV with smart features and a discount price of $648, or $350 off full pricing. You can also get a $40 cash discount and a $30 gift card on the 16 GB Wi-Fi only iPad mini, which would be available for $199 during those one-hour intervals, or get the Xbox One Halo: The Master Chief Collection Bundle for $329. That latter bundle includes an Xbox One console, four “classic Halo games,” the Halo: Nightfall digital series, and access to the Halo: Guardians beta. That’s a whole lot of value for only $329,and you’ll also be getting a $30 gift card on top of all that.

The four items we mentioned above are the highlights of Walmart’s pre-Black Friday 2014 One Hour Guarantee specials. But there are many other products you can choose from, including an RCA 7-inch Wi-Fi tablet ($29 – Special Buy), a Samsung Galaxy Ace Style on Walmart’s Straight Talk prepaid carrier ($29, reg. price $129), an HP Intel Celeron Touch Laptop ($249 – Special Buy), and an LG Blu-ray Disc Player ($35 – Special Buy).

Granted, most of the items we just read off are lower-end, or budget-oriented products, but there isn’t a better time to buy them than a couple weeks from now, once the deals go live. And, if you want another high-end item to choose from, the One Hour Guarantee also offers a big discount on a pair of Beats wireless headphones – regular pricing is $279, but Walmart will be selling it at just $149, or $130 off.

What happens if you have to settle for a One Hour Guarantee ticket due to your item having sold out? Walmart’s mechanics are quite simple. First, you’ll want to make sure you have your ticket with you once you line up at the checkout lane and pay for the product. Second, you have to go back to Walmart.com before 12:59 p.m. ET on December 1 to enter the transaction code and choose a store where you wish to pick up the item. Lastly, bring your receipt when picking up your item, and you should be all good to go.
