According to Disrupt, the factory’s expansion could devastate the local ecosystem, including extensive deforestation and exacerbating local water shortages.
Ole Becker, a spokesperson for the group, provided a grim outlook of the day’s events, noting the unfortunate necessity of police intervention. “It was a good day for activists, though marred by a considerable degree of police violence,” Becker remarked. He added distressingly, “I saw a lot of injured people… I have seen things today which I haven’t seen for many years.”
